Autumn at Seven Lakes Basin~Snow on Mt. Shasta

We’ve had beautiful weather this week and now it’s white, white and more white…on Mt. Shasta!

Upper Lake

This week we hiked to Seven Lakes Basin. This is a great 7 mile or so roundtrip hike mostly along the Pacific Crest Trail and veers off to a cluster of lakes.

Helen Lake

This lake is actually outside the boundary of the basin. It’s a nice lake to check out. Don’t be surprise to see vehicles in this area. It’s not recommended driving to the lake. Very steep grade and difficult driving back out.

Looking towards Echo Lake and Boulder Peak

Echo Lake is mostly on private land with no trespassing signs.

Snow Plow Hard at Work

This morning (Sunday). The road is still open to the Old Ski Bowl. Coverage is looking good!

Mtn Snow 10-24-10

Bunny Flat

It was raining here this morning.

Beautiful Sequoia Trees

These trees can be found on the way up Everitt Memorial Highway and scattered through town. They are not native to the area. They were planted here sometime back in the 1930’s by a forester.

Looks like we will have unstable weather throughout the week. Keep your fingers crossed for more snow. This is a great start.

Have a great week everyone!
