Caribou Lakes, Trinity Alps

 

Come join us on this 3 night and 3 days of backpacking in the spectacular Trinity Alps also known as Northern California’s Little Yosemite. We will guide you through the basics of back country travel, map & compass, “Leave No Trace” camping, cookery, packing light, along with the Klamath Mountains (Trinity Alps) natural history, geology, and wildflower identification. Daily mileage and altitude gain & loss will be between 5-10 miles per day for maximum enjoyment and learning. If you ever wanted to learn to backpack and extend your time in the back country, come join us and we will teach you what you need to know to open up the world of hiking and backpacking to you.

 

We meet on the first night at Big Flat Campground. We’ll begin our trip the following morning. Hiking 5 miles to first camp. Second day hike approximately 5 miles to destination. Last day hike out around 10 miles.

Duration: 3 nights, 3 days *includes one night of car camping and two nights in the backcountry.
Departure: Big Flat Campground, Coffee Creek, Trinity Alps

Experience Level: For beginning hikers, participants should be in good to excellent physical condition; no previous backpacking experience required. Day hiking experience recommended.
Cost: $595.00 per person, maximum 8 people

Price Includes use of: Professional instruction /guide, groups safety equipment (radios & cellular phones if needed), group water filter, first aid kit, tents, cooking & group camping equipment, instructional support, and permits

Food: Dinner and breakfast along with hot drinks are provided. Please bring your own lunches and high-energy

snacks (list will be provided).

Backpacking trips are operated through Sierra Wilderness Seminars Mountain Guides under special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service, are fully insured and operate on a non-discriminatory basis.
