Winter Awareness Clinic is an all-day training on snowshoes or skis in which you will learn how to appropriately prepare for a winter trip and what to do for a safe fulfilling experience once you arrive. Such topics as equipment, how to dress, what to eat and drink, familiarity with the area, use of a map and compass, weather, what to do if you get lost or in an emergency, how to deal with injuries, how to prevent winter illnesses such as frostbite, dealing with hypothermia and altitude sickness, reading terrain, and avalanche awareness will be covered.
